THE DOGBONES will headline the gig who were formed by members of Queenadreena, Wendykurk, Daisy Chainsaw, and Mediæval Bæbes, The Dogbones’ sound has been described as “johnnyfive playing -T. Rex’s guitar whilst cavemen beat up Barbarella with the dead members of The Beatles” and “early My Bloody Valentine as a Daisy Chainsaw cover band, downing shots and playing knife games with The Cramps. ” The band were formed as a collaboration between Queenadreena guitarist Crispin Gray and former Wendykurk frontwoman and Queenadreena bassist Nomi Leonard. The Dogbones play a mix of the darker side of Garage Rock, Punk Rock and Grunge.

THE SMEARS have been writing and making music together for almost seven years. The Smears are a hard working band whose live shows are fun and likened to ‘being hit by a train driven by Iggy Pop and Courtney Love’ or ‘L7 being caught in a bar room brawl with Mudhoney’ all comparisons that the girls are very proud of. After a couple of self released singles in 2008 Pink Box Records tracked the band down and put their debut album ‘Hell In High Heels’ out in 2009. The debut album was pressed onto a collectable 10” pink vinyl, a statement of the girls’ desire to break from tradition, yet contradicting the view by appealing to feminized stereotypes. With the success of the vinyl edition of the album Pink Box took the decision to release the album on CD also.

KIRIA recently released her debut solo album which we rate really highly here at Bitchslap. Described in one review as ‘Transvision Vamp meets Blondie’ this new pink punk rock princess is a welcome addition to the Bitchslap-Fest bill. Full of energy and attitude Kiria is definitely one to look out for in 2011.

TEMPORARY ASYLUM, the promising Nottinghamshire based band who split up last year are back together for a performance at Bitchslap-Fest. The band originally formed in October 2006 and gained a great reputation on the local live music scene with their punk inspired dark and grungy sound.

GRIM DYLAN play punky edged rock music with a true riot grrl grunge that any of their influences and inspirations would be proud of.

HUSHWHORE are one of the most exciting new bands on the scene at the moment. The Birmingham based punk/riot grrl band are really making waves on the national punk scene and if you’ve seen them live you’ll know exactly why. Full of attitude and energy Hushwhore are not to be missed.

TRIOXIN CHERRY play horror-punk of the highest standard and are a great band to kick off Bitchslap-Fest. “Live, the band blast out their B-Movie inspired songs, giving us darkly comic tales of serial killers, werewolves, zombies and aliens. Becky presides over the affair like a possessed Ringmaster as Pete prowls the stage, a demented gremlin of energy fuelled by Ryan’s foot-stomping beats.”
